AICodingCost is an independent comparison site for AI coding tools. We are not affiliated with Cursor, Anthropic, OpenAI, GitHub, Sourcegraph, Codeium, Tabnine, Continue, Aider, Zed, or any other vendor listed.
Why this site exists
AI coding tools change pricing constantly. In April 2026 alone: GitHub paused new Copilot Pro signups, Anthropic briefly tested removing Claude Code from the $20 Pro plan, and Cursor introduced new credit overage rules. Comparing prices is genuinely confusing, and most existing comparison sites are outdated, vendor-sponsored, or both.
This site has one job: tell you what you'll actually pay, and which tool is the cheapest fit for how you work.
Methodology
- Every price on this site is sourced from the vendor's own pricing page or public announcement. The source URL is linked on each tool page.
- Prices are re-verified manually at least once per month. The "Last verified" date appears on each tool page.
- We never accept payment from vendors to be listed, ranked, or described favorably.
- When a tool changes pricing mid-cycle, we update within 7 days and note the change in our newsletter.
- The cost calculator uses our own usage assumptions for "Casual / Regular / Heavy / Extreme" buckets. Real costs depend on your specific workflow.
Affiliate disclosure
Some outbound links on this site are structured as affiliate links, even when the corresponding affiliate program is still pending or not yet approved. We do this so the day a vendor approves us, the same link starts earning a commission with no change to the user-facing URL. Every outbound link to a vendor carries rel="sponsored nofollow", again regardless of approval status, to comply with FTC and Google Search guidance.
Current status (as of 2026-04-23): we have applied for several partner programs but have no live affiliate payouts yet. When that changes we will update this paragraph with the date and the vendor.
What an active affiliate would and would not change: rankings, recommendations, and the comparison table are sorted by honest total cost (subscription + realistic API spend), never by payout. We will never hide a free or BYOK option to favor a paid tool, and we will never recommend a tool we would not use ourselves. You are never required to use our links — every page also surfaces the vendor's plain pricing source.
